Pens Workshop with the multi-tallented Jan Watts, 15 May 2018

Hello All.

Pens6 (1 of 1)

We are looking forward to the exciting workshop with long time friend and former leader of Pens, Jan Watts. These events are always fun, and educational too !

We are opening this meeting to both members and non members as it is an extraordinary event and we do like to share our good fortune with friends.

The subject of this workshop is detailed below as there is a little preparation for it, but nothing too difficult. This is the information Jan sent to us ….

I thought we might write a Haibun. As preparation – I’d  like people to bring along a picture or a photo to write about. A view of a place in nature would be great or anything else to be honest. It just needs to be something that stirs a connection. With a haibun under our belt then I thought we might take them into performance.

‘What’s a Haibun?’ we hear some of you say. One definition is…

A haibun may record a scene, or a special moment, in a highly descriptive and objective manner or may occupy a wholly fictional or dream-like space. An accompanying haiku may have a direct or subtle relationship with the prose and encompass or hint at the gist of what is recorded in the prose sections. (Wikipedia)

If you would like to join us, please let us know if you are attending so that we can cater for numbers for the teas and coffee plus of course biscuits! If you can reply to this email it would be very helpful and feel free to bring others along if you know anyone who might be interested.

Please note, for Non Members of Pens, there will be a small charge of £3.00 per person to help cover costs; this is payable on the day.

About David Rollason

I am a writer, creative, inventive, observant, but the results are for you the reader to decide. There are things in my head constantly that I need to get out and into a readable form and this for now is my preferred medium. I am a simple being with complex workings. I am a complex being with simple logic. I am really just..... me.

Hi Jude and David, Val just called on me and said she might come to our media seminar on Saturday. As the room only holds 12 – 14 comfortably, and around 12 have booked, if any of your Pens folk want to come would you get them to call me and book a place? Not just turn up .. just in case ! (tho we will do a bit of squeezing if nec!). It is 2.30, Community room, this Saturday, 16 June. Maybe you could send an e-m reminder round to your members? A few said they would be interested but none, so far as I know, have booked. KR, Sheila P. 377 7899.
